The Story
THE STORY BEHIND THIS PIECE
After designing the Wave Bangle and Cuff, I knew the wave motif needed to live on a ring. Rings are intimate—you see them constantly, every time you gesture, type, reach for something. I wanted to create a ring that would bring that ocean connection to your daily movements.
I first made this ring by hand from gold-filled wire, sculpting the wave patterns directly. The design is motivated by sets of surf waves—that rhythmic pattern of swells rolling in, one after another. I wanted to capture that perpetual motion, that energy of waves building and breaking.
Once I had the hand-fabricated version perfected, I had a mold made and began casting it. Through lost wax casting, the design transforms into sterling silver, then receives its vermeil finish. The 24kt gold with 14kt flash gives it a warm, sun-on-water glow that catches the light beautifully.
This ring has become a favorite for customers who want something beyond the typical band. It's sculptural, meaningful, and carries the ocean with you wherever you go.
